On November 7th, 2014, Wayne Garnons-Williams, Senior Lawyer & Principal Director of Garwill Law Professional Corporation presented to the faculty of law University of Ottawa law students. The special evening event was organized by Eric Vallillee, co-chair of the Small Practice Student’s Association and entitled “Start Your Own Law Firm – small business start up”. Mr. Garnons-Williams, together with Jennifer Reynolds presented to the enthusiastic members of the Small Practice Law Students’ Association – University of Ottawa law school as well as faculty and the general public. The Presentation covered topics like determining if you are ready to open your own practice; building a business plan & marketing plan; expenses from capital layout to minimizing on-going expenses; type of business structure; insurance; administration; office procedure; contingency planning; mentoring; networking and support staff.
